In Texas hold em you will sometimes be in a heads up ( one on one ) situation where neither you or the other player has got a great hand. The flop comes and you both still have made nothing of your hands. You check and they follow you and also check. The turn comes and it does nothing for you , now it may have made something for you opponent but should you check? NO make a bet

Dont bet big but bet enough in relation to the pot and over time you will come out on top with this stategy. To check twice is weak play and will normally be followed by a decent bet from your opponent whether they have anything or not so why give them this chance. In a lot of situations in Hold em those who bet first win the pot. The worst case is your opponent has been trapping you and he comes over the top with a raise. If you have nothing at this point then fold of course but if he has nothing when you bet then the likelyhood is he will fold and you have just won a pot with nothing but position.
