Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson is a living poker legend, at the top of his game at the age of 70. Brunson began his poker career about 50 years ago by playing in back rooms of Texas towns and traveling college campuses playing poker for extra cash. Since, he has won nine world championship titles in poker and wrote the Bible of poker: “Super/System: How I Made Over $1 Million Playing Poker.” Brunson was born in Longworth, Texas and played basketball in his youth. He was so good that he was drafted to the Minneapolis Lakers in the National Basketball Association, unfortunately a knee injury prevented him from following through. The Texas Dolly moved to Las Vegas in the 1960s to develop his poker career. He began playing high stakes cash games with players from around the world. He won his first poker title in 1976. He is still a feared competitor and is at the top of his game this late in his life. He hopes to play poker until he is 80 years old. Brunson took fourth place in the “WPT Championship” and took home $159,987.
