Andrew “Andy” Bloch is one of the most educated poker players on the professional circuit. Originally from Orange, Connecticut, has three degrees: a law degree from Harvard and two degrees in electrical engineering from M.I.T. Bloch began playing poker as a hobby on the weekends while he worked as an engineer. His location of choice was the famous casino – Foxwoods. A career in poker began as a joke after being fired from his job, he joked to his parents that he could pay the bills on poker winnings. It turned out he was right, although his poker career didn’t happen overnight. While he pursued his law degree, Bloch spent most of his free time gambling. He even cut classes to play in the World Championships in 1997 and 1998, but had to skip the 1999 event for graduation. Bloch is considered an expert in game theory and game psychology. He took third place in both the “L.A. Poker Classic” and the “World Poker Finals.” His combined winnings for those events are $227,810.
