This book includes a collection of essays on various poker topics that Bob Ciaffone, also known as “The Coach,” has written over the years. He has also clarified some strategies and added new insight to his past columns to further assist the aspiring poker player.

The sections of “Improve Your Poker” include general concepts, gambling skills, reading opponents, and deception and bluffing. Bob Ciaffone does a great job of highlighting when, why and how to bluff an opponent.

Ciaffone’s book also covers specific skills to various types of poker including Texas Hold’em, stud, high-low split, and Omaha. The latter portion of the book focuses on pot-limit, no-limit and tournament games.

Many intermediate and advanced poker players playing mid to high-limit games will find “Improve Your Poker” useful, but it doesn’t fare well among amateurs and low-limit players. You will get the most out of this text by reading it, playing some poker then re-reading the book to strengthen your understanding of Ciaffone’s concepts.
